Can SILWAY be used outdoors?
No, the SILWAY system is designed exclusively for indoor application.
Can SILWAY be installed on plastered and painted brick walls?
Yes, in general, the SILWAY system can be installed on plastered and painted brick walls. The surface must be as smooth and clean as possible (e.g., free of
dust and dirt residues) using a dust cloth or a clean brush.
Can SILWAY be installed on plastered and painted drywall?
Yes, in general, the SILWAY system can be installed on plastered and painted drywall. The surface must be as smooth and clean as possible (e.g., free of dust and dirt residues) using a dust cloth or a clean brush.
Can SILWAY be installed on painted wooden panels?
Yes, in general, the SILWAY system can be installed on painted wooden panels.
The surface must be as smooth and clean as possible (e.g., free of dust and dirt residues) using a dust cloth or a clean brush.
Can SILWAY be installed on painted metal surfaces?
Yes, in general, the SILWAY system can be installed on painted metal surfaces.
The surface must be as smooth and clean as possible (e.g., free of dust and dirt
residues) using a dust cloth or a clean brush.
How can I ensure a straight-line installation when there are no reference points?
A straight-line installation can be achieved even without reference points (such as baseboards, corners, doors, etc.) by using a level and lightly marking the
path with a pencil. Once the SILWAY system is positioned, the light pencil marks will no longer be visible.
What type of adhesive is applied to the micro-channel?
The adhesive on the back of the SILWAY micro-channel is a 3M adhesive (code 9448A). Originally designed for automotive applications, it is highly resistant to time and external stresses. The optimal curing time is approximately 72 hours after installation.
How long can the product be stored in its original packaging?
The product can be stored in its original packaging for up to 12 months.
How does the adhesive respond to high temperatures?
The adhesive has the following resistance to high temperatures:
– Long-term exposure (days, weeks): up to 90°C.
– Short-term exposure (seconds, minutes): up to 150°C.
What types of optical fibers can be used with the SILWAY system?
The optical fibers compatible with the SILWAY system are G657.A2 and G657.B3. These are two of the most used optical fiber types. The 4×4 mm micro-channel can accommodate up to four 900-micron fiber cables.
Can optical fibers be spliced if they break during installation?
Yes, optical fibers can be spliced if necessary. Heat-shrinkable sleeves can be
placed inside the micro-channel to hide and protect the splice. Micro or standard
heat-shrinkable sleeves (up to 45 mm long with a diameter of 2.4 mm) fit easily
within the SILWAY micro-channel.
What is the recommended surface and ambient air temperature for installation?
The recommended surface and ambient air temperature for installing the SILWAY system is between 16°C and 38°C (60°F and 100°F).
